Acanthus would be worth growing even without its floral display because its handsome foliage is big
although it has performed beautifully for us in regular garden soil in full sun
we not only have it
cobalt-blue flowers
Crinum moorei Album Shade Perennials Acanthus would be worth growingThis smaller stature crinum has performed quite well in our climate, especially when given light shade during the heat of the day. The wide tropical looking glossy green foliage makes a short rosette, topped in late May and early June with wide bell shaped lightly fragrant pure white flowers. According to bulb guru Scott Ogden, C. moorei may go dormant in mid summer, then resume growth in the fall. Here in NC, growth continues all summer.
